IFSI-USA at the Heart of the Massachusetts Migrant Humanitarian Crisis

Since the terrible event that occurred under the Del Rio bridge with migrants coming from South America, certain States of the United States of America have been a privileged point of departure for refugees and asylum seekers arriving by land borders. . Among these states, Massachusetts has statistically 1 immigrant out of every 6 residents and is therefore considerably affected by the humanitarian crisis generated by the incessant influx of migrants to these lands.

Everywhere in the cities, pockets of migrants request services and sometimes even roofs to spend the night there. Faced with this situation, the Governor of the State of Massachusetts cannot remain indifferent. Thus, on Tuesday August 8, he gave a conference where he declared that he took note of the seriousness of the situation and affirmed his determination to do everything to facilitate a rapid management of the problem. Accompanied by representatives from all sectors involved in the process of welcoming and integrating migrants, the Chief Executive of the American State of Massachusetts, Governor Maura Healey has launched an urgent appeal to the federal government for an increase in funds, actions and resources allocated to the service of immigrants in Massachusetts. The appeal also concerned the extension of work permits and the introduction of facilitation in the process of obtaining the work permit.

Among the great personalities who paraded on the podium, Dr. Geralde Gabeau of IFSI-USA was there with some immigrants whose background clearly demonstrates that immigration tends much more to enrich the community instead of impoverishing it. Too many brains that could be useful for the development of society are being lost due to the lack of services addressed to immigrants. Dr. Gabeau recognized this and reiterated his call to action to all organizations, institutions, elected officials and government authorities so that they can join forces in order to be able to rise to the height of the challenges posed. today by the humanitarian migrant crisis in Massachusetts that requires other responses.

Once again, IFSI-USA has risen to the forefront in defending the rights of migrants and affirming its firm desire to continue to do everything to facilitate the successful integration of migrants into the host society.

For immigrants, mostly of Haitian origin, temporarily staying at the Clarion Hotel, Friday, June 15, 2023, in Taunton, was not a day like any other. Visibly enthusiastic, there were dozens of them to benefit from the attentions and services of a specialized work team from the IFSI, installed in the great hall of the Reverend James Destinée's House of Bread church, and determined as always, to work in to facilitate their integration into American society.

It was a day of togetherness and of sharing among Haitians dreaming of a better future and new beginnings in this country, and IFSI, working devoutly to remain true to its promise of bringing hope to immigrants.

Immigrants flocked by the dozens to register in our database, apply for a work permit, change of address, change of venue, DTA assistance and make an appointment at IFSI to receive other integration services provided by the organization.

Among the IFSI specialists present at the event were the organization's assistant director, Mr. Franklin Dalembert; Ms. Nunotte Zama, an immigration lawyer working with IFSI; and Ms. Barbara Antoine, head of operations in IFSI's Immigration department, who spoke to the immigrants, offering them advice on how to build successful lives for themselves in the United States.

It should be noted that other organizations were also invited to attend this “immigrants day” event. Participants shared Haitian food graciously offered by Reverend Destinée, after which IFSI distributed sanitary kits, toiletries, and clothing to immigrant families.

Among the organizations present was American Service, whose representatives explained the Minnesota program to the immigrants in attendance. After this  presentation, several attendees decided to enroll in this program.

Starting early in the morning, the IFSI Logistics department under the leadership of Mr. Jean Fritzner Vital worked hard to ensure that resources were available on-site to distribute to the immigrants. Their concerted effort aligns with the IFSI mission to assist as many immigrants as possible in solving the problems they face and improving their situation. Jerry also provided essential transportation services throughout the duration of the event, transporting immigrants between the hotel and the church.

By the end of the day, it was abundantly clear that the immigrants were satisfied and grateful for the information and services that they had received during the event.

This event was a big success! The event was made possible through a partnership model that will remain vital to the success of our efforts during these times of crisis when immigrants everywhere are in need of a helping hand.

IFSI reiterates its will to provide essential services and information wherever immigrants are in need of such services to facilitate their successful integration into their new communities.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
